ISLAMABAD: A local court, on Wednesday, again issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill in a sedition case registered against him.
Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while hearing the case, again issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Gill due to his continuous absence from the court. The court ended the trial against the co-accused Amad Yousaf.
The judge said that the Supreme Court has issued directives for ending of trial against co-accused Ahmad Yousaf, therefore, the trial of the case up to the co-accused has ended.
The judge said the court is again issuing non-bailable arrest warrants for Gill who has already been declared a proclaimed offender.
The PTI leader was arrested on August 9 last year on charges of sedition and inciting the public against the state institutions.
He got bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the same case on September 15, 2022.
