The dollar is close to 96 level in relation to the rupee on the open market in process of strong demand for the greenback, currency experts said. The rupee shed one-paisa against the dollar for buying at 95.55, however, the national currency gained same amount for selling at 95.57, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee lost 10-paisa in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at 95.50 and 95.70, they said. The rupee, held the last levels versus the euro for buying at Rs 123 and Rs 124, they added.
In the second Asian trade, the euro was on the back foot on Tuesday as uncertainty about Spain persisted after euro zone, ministers said the country did not need a bailout yet, dashing investors' hopes they might inch closer to a resolution of the country's debt problems. Caution on company earnings also kept risk assets, including the euro, in check, as investors weighed the impact of the global slowdown on corporate earnings due out this week.
The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 52.41, the greenback was at 3.0680 in relation to the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.287 against the Chinese yuan. Interbank buy/sell rates for the taka against the dollar on Tuesday: 81.30-81.34 (previous 81.32-81.35) Call Money Rates: 08.00-08.50 percent (previous 04.00-09.50 percent).

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained under pressure and lost 10-paisa on buying side while it stayed unchanged on selling side against the greenback on the local currency market on Tuesday.
According to the currency dealers, the marginal decline on supply side helped improve dollar's buying rate from Rs 95.20 to Rs 95.30. However, in the absence of buying support, the dollar remained unchanged at its overnight closing of Rs 95.50.
The rupee-pound sterling parity remained unchanged amid low trading activity in the open market. The pound was purchased and sold at its day earlier closing of Rs 152.50 and Rs 153.50, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar showed an improvement of 50-paisa against the rupee on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 95 (buying) and Rs 95.6 (selling) against last rate of Rs 94.5 (buying) and Rs 94.6 (selling). It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 95 (buying) and Rs 95.6 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 151.9 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling) against last rate of Rs 150 (buying) and Rs 150.1 (selling) against the same previous rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 151.9 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling).
The buying and selling rates of Euro remained Rs 122.4 and Rs 123.6 respectively in both morning and evening sessions.
