Surprise visits would be paid to all jails in view of the complaints lodged by prisoners and visitors, while open katcheries would also be held in this regard. Special teams are being formed, to be headed by Minister Prisons, in this connection.
While talking to delegations from different districts who called on him at his office, Minister Prisons Malik Iqbal Chunnar said that DIGs Prisons of all regions throughout the province have been directed to display their official numbers in big banners, so that complaints of citizens could be addressed.
He said lawyers, social institutions and notables can get their complaints registered at 0300-8009001, while prisoners of the jail staff can also have their complaints lodged here. The Minister said that special teams would pay visits to various jails of the province and strict action would be taken in case of any complaint. Malik Iqbal Chunnar said that open katcheries would also be held in an open area, outside the prisons.
