A consumers' rights organisation has challenged the recent increase in petroleum and gas prices before the Lahore High Court. The petitioner contended that the increase was a fraud on citizens. Its counsel Advocate Mateen-ul-Haq Chaudhry pleaded that prices of petrol and CNG had been decreasing in international market but in Pakistan Ogra increased the prices.
The counsel said the increase in the prices was unjustifiable as people were already suffering due to price hike. He requested the court to take notice of the increase in the prices and declare the action illegal.
