Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday demanded the restoration of wheat quota for flour mills, saying that the provincial government has huge stock of the commodity, which should be released to mills with immediate effect.
The meeting of the association was held here in the regional office of PFMA with provincial chairman, Mohammad Naeem Butt in the chair. The meeting was attended by vice presidents and members of the executive committee. The association reiterated demand for cut in the issuing price of wheat for the flour mills of the province, saying the issuance price of the commodity is higher than other provinces of the country.
They said that the government of Punjab is going to announce in the issuance price of wheat and demanded of the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to follow Punjab and announced cut in the price of the commodity in the province. They said that cut in the issuance of price of wheat will benefit both flour millers and general public.
They said that terrorism had played havoc with the industry rendering a large number of people unemployed in the province. In this regard the meeting constituted a delegation for taking up the matter with the high-ups of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
The flour millers also expressed concern on terrorist attack on Babu Flour Mills, Sheikhan and called for payment of compensation to the management of the mill. The meeting also expressed concern on power load shedding and incomplete Charsadda Road Feeder and decided to take up the matter with the officials concerned. They said that massive load shedding is playing havoc with the flour mills and decide to contact the high ups of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) in this regard.
