Research has shown that a profound lack of proper guidance and counselling of youth is the prime reason behind the rising incidence of psychological disorders among this very important segment of society. These remarks were made by Dr Ajmal Kazmi, Medical Superintendent, Karwaan-e-Hayat Psychiatric Hospital, while addressing a seminar on the eve of "World Mental Health" Day here.
According to Dr Kazmi children constitute the 45 percent of population of country but they don't have access to proper health facilities. He advised the government of Pakistan to set up high-level institutions in the country on priority basis in order to address the psychological problems being faced by youth and children. Chief Executive Karwaan-e-Hayat Saleemudin urged parents to immediate consult doctors if they felt that their children were suffering from a psychological disorder. Director Karwaan-e-Hayat Rehana Alam and others also spoke.
