National Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Mohsin Dawar was injured in a firing incident in North Waziristan's Miran Shah, Aaj News reported.
He was contesting from the district’s NA-40 constituency. Dawar was taken to a district hospital.
This development comes two days after elections were held under a bar on communication with mobile internet services disrupted and security concerns.
A few hours before the firing incident, Dawar tweeted that in PK 104, the "rigging was successfully achieved, Iqbal Wazir, a candidate who was lagging behind all others, has been declared the winner by 24,000 votes".
"In NA 40, the staff of some polling stations is nowhere to be seen, & God knows what result they’ll come out with," he tweeted.
This is the second incident in two months after he survived a gun attack on his convoy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tribal districts.
