KARACHI: Former President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Sheikh Umer Rehan, commended the government’s swift action in issuing sales tax refunds totalling Rs65 billion.
Appreciating Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s immediate attention to the textile industry, Rehan emphasized that this move will enhance investment, boost industry capacity to meet export demands, and contribute to increased revenue.
While praising the timely refund disbursement, Umer Rehan urged the government to extend its focus beyond the textile sector and address issues in various industries promptly.
He stressed the importance of tackling challenges such as smuggling and underscored the need for collaborative efforts to formulate a comprehensive, long-term economic policy.
With Ramazan approaching, Sheikh Umer Rehan urged measures to prevent hoarding and curb inflation, emphasizing the significance of consulting all stakeholders to develop effective solutions for diverse sectors.
