LCCI chief highlights criticality of women’s economic empowerment
LAHORE: Kashif Anwar, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the pivotal role of women empowerment, equitable resource allocation, and the burgeoning participation of women in the workforce as catalysts for transforming the economic landscape of the nation.
Anwar underscored the chamber’s steadfast commitment to advancing women entrepreneurs, noting its proactive stance in fostering their growth. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry commemorated International Women’s Day with a special event, drawing luminaries such as LCCI Senior Vice President Zafar Mahmood Chaudhry, Convener Standing Committee for Women Empowerment Fareeha Younas, and Executive Committee Member Amina Wahaj, among others, who shared insights on the occasion.
The event featured an exhibition showcasing the innovative products of women entrepreneurs, reflecting the chamber’s dedication to amplifying their voices and contributions. Anwar asserted that such initiatives are integral to propelling Pakistani women into positions they rightfully deserve.
Highlighting the challenges confronting women entrepreneurs, Anwar stressed the need for concerted efforts to address these issues promptly. He lauded the exemplary performance of women entrepreneurs and reiterated the chamber’s commitment to spotlighting their achievements as inspirations for future generations.
Anwar emphasized that fostering an environment conducive to women’s economic empowerment is indispensable for national growth. He acknowledged the unique obstacles faced by women in Pakistani society, particularly the juggling act between familial responsibilities and business endeavours.
The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s proactive stance in empowering women was underscored, with Anwar revealing the establishment of dedicated spaces such as the Women Empowerment Lounge and Display Centre. The chamber regularly organizes seminars and awareness sessions to equip women entrepreneurs with the requisite knowledge and skills, including training on leveraging e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Alibaba.
Anwar also hailed the recent Women Entrepreneurs Recognition Ceremony held at the President’s House in Islamabad, attributing its success to the tireless efforts of LCCI Executive Committee Member Fareeha Younas.
