Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has warned the government of a 'long march' towards Islamabad if urgent steps are not taken in the larger interests of the growers. 'It is 100 per cent possible that this time a movement against government will start from fields. This will be a unique long march in which animals will participate,' said KBP Central President Pakistan Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan in a statement issued on Monday.
Sardar Zafar said our grower is already facing hardships due to unavailability of water, everyday increase in diesel prices, increase in electricity tariff for agricultural tube wells etc. He said that if growers are not provided immediate relief they might refuse to pay their power bills, which would result in disconnection of their power connections. It would lead to a total disaster in the agricultural sector.
