The Karachi Port handled 30,633 tonnes of cargo comprising 24,525 tonnes of import cargo and 6,108 tonnes of export cargo including 366 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 24,525 tonnes comprised 407 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,334 tonnes of general cargo; 21,784 tonnes of bulk cargo: 18,000 tonnes of coal; and 3,784 tonnes of urea.
The total export cargo of 6,108 tonnes comprised 4,940 tonnes of containerised cargo; 290 tonnes of general cargo and 878 tonnes of cement. As many as 366 containers comprising 20 containers import and 346 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 20 of 20's and nil of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 100 of 20's and 80 of 40's loaded containers while 2 of 20's and 42 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Four ships namely Hyundai Colombo, Maliakos, Blue Marlin and Asteria Leader with two container ships, one general cargo ship and one vehicles carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Three vessels viz APL Brisbane, Carrara Castle and Heilan Rising with one container ship, one general cargo ship and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Two ships namely Talassa and Greta with one container ship and one coal carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely APL Brisbane and Buxtaurus carrying two container ships are expected to sail on Thursday. Five vessels viz APL Chicago, Caravel Pride, Topaz T, Isola Blu and Ocean Prince with two container ships, one hexane carrier, one mogas carrier and one steel coils carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday, while nine vessels viz Jolly, Wan Hai-601, Kota Azam, YM Taichung, Akaki, Sunrise Eco, DL Clover, Chrisopigi Lady and Warnow Merkur with four container ships, one crude oil tanker, two ethanol carrier, one mogas ship and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 38,529 tonnes includes 9,831 tonnes of palm oil; 1,452 tonnes of fertiliser and 27,246 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 28,823 tonnes includes 000 tonnes of cement; 000 tonnes of corn; 000 tonnes of wheat and 28,823 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 2,951 containers comprising 1,434 containers import and 1,517 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
A container ship namely CV Sealand Washington sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Deira and MT Stolt Megami with containers and edible oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz CV Sealand Washington, CV Nedlloyd Barentiz, CV Deira, MV Anna Dorothea MT Stolt Megami are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, fertiliser and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely Bow Lion, Al-Salam-II, Harsanadi and Infinite Wisdom with palm oil, diesel oil, chemicals and rice are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Three vessels viz CV OOCL San Francisco, MT Al-Salam-II and MV Harsanadi with containers, diesel oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday. Two ships namely CV City of Beijing and CV Dubai Express with containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
