Upcoming JCC meeting under CPEC: Ministry discusses ongoing projects
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives discussed various development projects related to the Joint Working Groups (JWGs) and proposals for preparation for the upcoming 13th meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The Planning ministry has started preparation for signing agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for new development projects in the coming 13th meeting of JCC as soon Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is going on a visit to China in the next month.
The federal minister for planning, development and special initiatives issued instructions to the relevant ministries to prepare a solid agenda for the upcoming 13th JCC meeting. He also directed the officers and other staff to ensure their participation in coming meetings of various working groups and decision-making relating to development projects under the CPEC.
A special meeting under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister for Planning was held on Thursday and discussed matters regarding development projects, JWGs and the forthcoming 13th JCC meeting in Beijing during the visit of the prime minister.
In the meeting, officials also briefed the federal minister about the progress on the agreements on the ML-1 Railway Project, Karakoram Highway Phase-2, DI Khan Zhob project, Karachi Circular Railway, and other projects.
While presiding over the meeting, the federal minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz would visit China soon and issued instructions to the authorities to set a plan of action for the implementation of MoUs and agreements.
The minister said that no obstacle in the way of implementation of the CPEC agreements would be tolerated and directed the officials of his ministry and related authorities to hold regular meetings with the working groups formed under CPEC.
