ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Japanese companies and businessmen in Pakistan met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif under the leadership of the Japanese ambassador, said a press release.

Japan and Pakistan are long-standing friends whose trade relations span decades, said the Prime Minister, adding that the time has come for the two countries should further promote trade and investment in various sectors.

All problems faced by Japanese industrialists and businessmen will be overcome together, said the Prime Minister, adding that there is a wide potential for investment in the Electric Vehicle industry in Pakistan, and Japanese companies with the best technology can take full advantage of it.

He said that a committee has been formed to solve the problems of Japanese companies expanding their business activities in Pakistan and the solution of these problems will be ensured within a week with the cooperation of Japanese businessmen and Pakistani government officials.

In the meeting, the Japanese delegation expressed full confidence in the government’s business-friendly policies and measures to promote investment in Pakistan under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

The Japanese ambassador informed the Prime Minister about the arrival of a delegation of 20 well-known Japanese companies to Pakistan in July this year, which will prove to be an important milestone for the promotion of investment and trade between the two countries.

The Japanese delegation expressed hope that due to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special attention on increasing investment in Pakistan and business-friendly policies, the confidence of international investors will increase and domestic exports will increase.

The delegation informed the Prime Minister that Japanese companies have started local production of hybrid vehicles in Pakistan. The representatives of various companies informed the Prime Minister about their ongoing activities in Pakistan and told the meeting that Japanese companies are also exporting from Pakistan to other countries after value addition.

Federal Ministers Jam Kamal Khan, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja, chairman FBR, and relevant senior officials also participated in the meeting.
