KARACHI: Minorities in Karachi took out a march to express solidarity with Palestinians on Monday. The march was taken out, under the aegis of the JI Karachi Minorities Wing, from the Trinity Church to the Karachi Press Club (KPC).
The marchers, carrying placards and banners, chanted slogans against the Zionist regime of Israel and its supporters. The surrounding environment echoed with "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" and "Free, free Palestine."
A large number of Karachiites, belonging to Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and other minorities participated in the march.
The protest leaders demanded an end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and urged the global community to play their due role and ensure eviction of occupation forces from Gaza, and supply of relief goods and food in the occupied areas.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi interim Ameer Munem Zafar addressed the marchers at the KPC. He said that over 35,000 Palestinians, including 25,000 women and children, have been killed during the past seven months. He said that the United States and other Western powers have been supporting the naked genocide on the part of Zionist Israel. Unfortunately, he said, the Muslim rulers have also been following the same route.
He further said that the people of conscience, all across the world, without any discrimination of cast, creed, colour and belief, have been supporting the resistance in Gaza. He demanded of the Islamic block to play its due role to bring the genocide to an end. He lambasted the global powers over their dual faces. He said that these world powers, who otherwise always chant the mantra of human rights, equality and democracy, have been playing the role of silent spectators over the massacre of people in Gaza. Muslim Pervez, Younus Sohin Advocate and others also addressed the march.
