HYDERABAD: Deputy Commissioner Matiari, Muhammad Yousif Shaikh, has issued directives to all concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive contingency plan to combat expected heavy rains.
DC Matiari said, “The plan should include details of available staff, vehicles, machinery, equipment, identification of places for establishment of relief camps and required human as well as financial resources".
The DC emphasized the importance of close coordination with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to ensure advance preparations and avoid any inconvenience during the rains.
He directed the Town Municipal Administration, Public Health Engineering Department, and other relevant departments to complete the designing and cleanliness of all major nullahs throughout the district and submit progress reports on a regular basis.
The DC announced that he will conduct surprise visits to all pumping and dewatering stations to inspect the machinery and equipment. He warned that any lethargy or negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Noor Ahmad Khaharo and Moonis Ahmad, District Health Officer Dr. Peer Ghulam Hussain, District Education Officers Amir Bux Sahito, Safar Akbar, DO Civil Defence Jalal Baati, Assist Commissioners Abdul Sattar Sheikh and Abid Qamar, Additional Director Social Welfare Rafiq Jamali, Pak Army Capt. Saqib, and other officers.
