LAHORE: The Lahore High Court reserved its verdict on a petition against Ishaq Dar for his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister.
The petitioner Ashaba Kamran through her counsel contended that Ishaq Dar was enjoying the portfolio of Foreign minister but he was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister.
He said the office of the Deputy Prime Minister is neither mentioned in the Constitution nor have any legal strength.
He, therefore, prayed to the court to declare the appointment of respondent as Deputy Prime Minister without lawful authority and unconstitutional.
A law officer told the court that the Foreign minister has been nominated as Deputy Prime Minister.
He said Ishaq Dar was not appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, however, he was nominated, the law officer added.
He replying to a court query also said Ishaq Dar was not drawing a single penny against the office of Deputy Prime Minister.
He, however, contended that respondent is receiving salary of Foreign minister only. The court after hearing both the sides at length reserved its verdict.
