ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved Rs23 billion technical supplementary grant to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government for electricity and flour.

An official said that an emergency and unscheduled meeting of the ECC was convened to consider a proposal moved by the Ministry of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan to approve Rs23 billion which was announced by the prime minister following protests against the increase in electricity and flour prices.

The meeting was presided over by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and attended by the Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Petroleum Dr Musadik Masood Malik, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and the concerned federal secretaries has granted approval of the funds.

Power, wheat flour prices slashed in AJK

Secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan briefed the ECC meeting that during a high-level meeting held on Monday, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, had authorised an additional grant of Rs23 billion to the government of AJK, in the national interest.

The ECC gave approval to the summary for the provision of Rs23 billion as additional grant to the AJK government through a technical supplementary grant as proposed by the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan.

ECC should ask all AJ&K Govt servants to start living Muzaffarabad / other cities of AJ& K instead of Islamabad. Kashmiri's form the richest segment in Islamabad, Centarus is also owned by them.

Why should GoP provide 99% of funding for running the tiny AJ&K Govt. Its time to tell AJ&K Govt and the people to take off their pampers and get rid of their milk feeder
