Pak-Qatar IT Tower opens: Development of IT sector first priority: Minister
ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said the development of the IT sector is the first priority and it welcomes the investment by Pak-Qatar Group in Pakistan’s IT infrastructure uplift.
She was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Pak-Qatar IT Tower, here on Thursday. She said there were a number of opportunities for youth in the era of technology.
She said the government was going to digitise the economy, governance and society under the National Digitalization Plan, adding that digitalisation would ensure transparency in the system and facilitation for the masses.
Fatima said steps were under way for better IT and telecommunication infrastructure and connectivity in the country.
She said Pakistan and Qatar had brotherly relations, and it was welcoming that investment from Qatar was moving towards the IT sector.
She said Pakistan needed foreign investment as the atmosphere for FDI was conducive.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Mars BPO, the Minister for State for IT said Pakistan had a huge youth population and the BPO sector had a great potential of creating jobs for them.
She said the government recognised the BPO sector’s strategic importance and remained firmly committed to its continued growth. She said the Ministry of IT and Telecom was working under the vision of the prime minister of Pakistan.
She said the government stood firmly behind the BPO sector and would ensure Pakistan’s BPO sector reaches even greater heights.
