ISLAMABAD: The country’s textile group exports declined by around 0.19 per cent during the first 10 months (July-April) of the current fiscal year 2023-24 and remained at $13.683 billion as compared to $13.709 billion during the same period of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said.

The data of exports and imports released by PBS revealed that the country’s exports during July–April, 2023-2024 totalled $25.279 billion (provisional) against $ 23.171 billion during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 9.10 percent.

Textile group exports witnessed an increase of 0.37 per cent in April 2024 on a year-on-year basis and remained at $1.237 billion when compared to $1.232 billion during the same month of last year.

Jul-Mar ’24: Textile group exports down 0.25pc to $12.44bn YoY

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the textile group registered 4.84 per cent negative growth compared to $1.300 billion in March 2024.

Cotton yarn exports registered 32.83 per cent growth in July-April and remained $845.923 million compared to $636.832 million during the same period of the last year.

On a year-on-year basis, cotton yarn exports registered 15.11 per cent negative growth, while on an MoM basis, it registered 24.40 per cent growth.

According to the provisional figures compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, exports in April 2024 were $2.352 billion (provisional) as compared to $2.567 billion in March 2024, showing a decrease of 8.38 percent over March 2024 but increased by 10.16 percent as compared to $2.135 billion in April 2023.

Pakistan rice exports in 10 months reached a milestone.

During July-April rice exports touched to 5.087 million tons.

In the same period last year, it was around 3.270 million tons.

Rice exports record an increase of 56 per cent. Rice exports fetched $3.2 billion, up by 80 per cent.

In the same period, corresponding rice shipments amounted to $1.82 billion.

The main commodities of exports during April 2024 were knitwear (Rs90,772 million), readymade garments (Rs81,020 million), rice others (Rs76,438 million), bed wear (Rs56,332 million), cotton cloth (Rs37,556 million), towels (Rs22,459 million), rice basmati (Rs21,378 million), cotton yarn (Rs15,052 million), made-up articles (excl towels and bedwear) (Rs14,843 million), and fish and fish preparations (Rs12,123 million).
