‘Drug-Free Punjab drive’: Strict crackdown being conducted across province
LAHORE: Punjab Police is conducting strict crackdown across the province in reference of Drug-Free Punjab campaign. In the last 24 hours, police teams conducted 307 raids on the hideouts of drug dealers, 140 cases were registered and 144 accused were arrested. 54 kilograms of charas, 290 grams of Ice and 1,683 litres of alcohol were recovered from the possession of drug dealers.
A senior officer of Punjab Police said that 23,910 raids have been conducted across the province in the special campaign since February 26, 11,137 FIRs were registered against the accused involved in the drug trade, and 11,860 accused were arrested. 7,290 kilograms of charas, 120 kilograms of heroin, 250 kilograms of opium, 37 kilograms, 290 grams of Ice, and 142,549 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused.
IG Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, while giving directions for speeding up intelligence-based targeted operations against drug dealers, said that those who poison the veins of the young generation with drugs do not deserve any concession, all the accused involved in the supply chain of this menace should be brought to justice and severely punished.
