LAHORE: Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Tuesday met with Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren at the Chinese Consulate in Lahore.

They discussed increasing Chinese investment in Punjab, security for Chinese nationals, and enhancing economic cooperation. During the meeting, they agreed to enhance cooperation in the textile industry, information technology, and other sectors.

A Garment City is being built on 2,000 acres of land near Lahore, and work has also begun on the IT City project. A labor colony will also be established in the Garment City, as labor is cheap in Punjab, and Chinese companies can increase their investment here. The best security has been provided to the Chinese working on these projects.

The Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce emphasized that increasing economic cooperation between China and Pakistan is a need of the hour. The Chinese Consul General expressed his readiness to provide all possible cooperation in the Garment City and IT City projects. Zhao Shiren also appreciated the measures taken to improve the security of Chinese nationals.
