The classic drama serial of the 80s, proverbially referred to as the golden age of Pakistani Television, is all set to make a comeback with a sequel titled 'Olper's Tanhaiyaan - Naye Silsillay'. The 13-episode serial format will showcase the storyline of the original Tanhaiyaan 27 years later. The story plot revolves around the lives of the daughters of Asif Raza Meer and Shehnaz Sheikh - the central characters of Tanhaiyan - and their lives after over two decades.
The original Tanhaiyan that was first aired in 1987 enjoyed enormous acclaim at the time of its airing and evokes fond memories even today. The sequel has been written by Haseena Moin and Mushtaq Ahmed and features the key cast of the original plot including Asif Raza Meer, Marina Khan, Behroze Sabzwari, Badr Khalil and Qazi Wajid. Joining the veteran cast are faces from the newer generation which include sisters Alishba Yousuf and Syra Yousuf, Shehroz Sabzwari and Sheheryar Siddiqui.
