Deputy Prime Minister and PML-Q senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has welcomed the decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Asghar Khan case and said all those politicians who had been exposed for receiving money be declared disqualified.
Talking to media here in the State Guest House on Saturday, Elahi was of the view that judgement of the Supreme Court in Asghar Khan case should be implemented like that of NRO. He claimed the then army chief Aslam Beg also called him and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and offered money but they refused to accept it.
Moreover, talking to Indian media delegation, Elahi emphasised on dialogue process, saying Pakistan and India had fought three wars but the issues would be settled through dialogues. He said dialogues could be held on Kashmir, Siachin and water issues with positive thinking and open minds, adding media could play a lead role in removing misunderstandings between the two countries.
Elahi said dialogue process between Pakistan and India should continue to resolve the issues, adding Pakistan wanted good relations with India and was promoting co-operation in different sectors. He said better relations between Pakistan and India were vital for the progress and prosperity of the two countries as well as of the region. Furthermore, a delegation of Young Doctors Association Punjab led by Dr Mudassar also called on the Deputy Prime Minister in Lahore and apprised him about the problems related to their service structure.
Talking to them, Elahi assured the delegation all out assistance of the federal government for resolution of their problems, and said "doctors are our asset but they are running from pillar to post for the resolution of their just demands." He expressed annoyance over state of affairs vis-à-vis health institutions in Punjab. The doctors informed the PML-Q leader that the provincial government was delaying the announcement of service structure, and said young doctors were holding a sit-in in front of CM House in November to press the government for the acceptance of their demands.
