FAISALABAD: Tax regime change for exporters will foment complicated issues having direct impact on exports in addition to trimming overall industrial production and enhancing unemployment in the country, said Dr Khurram Tariq President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).
He opposed proposed tax measures in a most convincing manner in a meeting with the finance minister and senate committee on finance in which critical tax relief issues were discussed.
Dr Khurram Tariq who is also a member of Anomaly Committee proposed maintaining the fixed income tax regime for exporters with an increase of 1.5 percent instead of one percent. He said exporters were facing daunting challenges of appreciation of dollar, costly imports for export purposes, and an unbearable tariff of electricity and gas as compared to the other regional countries.
