The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Monday recommended the confirmation of Islamabad High Court judge Justice Shaukat Siddiqui. A meeting of the Judicial Commission was held in Islamabad with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the chair. Law Minister Farooq H Naek did not attend the meeting.
The commission also suggested six months' extension to IHC judge Justice Noor ul Haq Quraishi but it did not give extension to another judge Justice Azim Afridi. Sources told Business Recorder that two JCP members - Attorney General Irfan Qadir and Pakistan Bar Council representative Dr Khalid Ranjha - objected to the confirmation of Justice Shaukat Siddiqui.
