FAISALABAD: Chairman Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Board of Directors Umar Farooq Khan has said that provision of the best facilities and uninterrupted power supply to consumers is the top priority of the board, excessive or wrong billing will not be tolerated, Consumers have the right to get accurate billing according to their electricity usage, a satisfied consumer reflects the company’s best performance, he was addressing an emergency meeting of the FESCO BOD here on Monday.

He further said that the best facilities should be provided to the consumers in the eight Districts of the FESCO region, by using state of the art technology. He ordered the FESCO management to compile the proposals in the next two days to redress the complaints of the consumers regarding issue of new connections, installation of transformers, power outages, correction of bills, replacement of defective meters etc and that should be presented in the next meeting of the board on Wednesday so that board could review them and approve the consumer friendly initiatives.

CEO FESCO Engr Muhammad Amir told the board that the FESCO administration is striving hard to provide best services to more than 5.3 million domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural consumers’ of FESCO region. There is no excessive or wrong billing anywhere in the FESCO region. Pro-Rata billing Software is being utilized on the special directives of the Ministry of Energy Power Division to ensure accurate and 30 or 31 days billing of a month to consumers while overbilling is just propaganda.

He further said that in June 1 lakh 37 thousand consumers were benefited by 10 lakh units due to Pro-Rata billing. In the month of June, about 14,000 consumers were readjusted on the basis of premature Pro-Rata billing due to the Eid holidays. The number of protected customers increases in winter due to low consumption and decreases in summer due to high consumption.

He said that consumers can call on 118 and SMS on 8118 for redressal of various types of electricity complaints. Toll free number 0800-66554, FESCO Light App and mobile number of Sub Divisional Officer and holding of E-Kacheris on facebook are also being used for registration and resolving of electricity related complaints. Modern features are being added on 118 and 8118, with the help of which the consumer will not only be able to track his complaint but also talk to the line staff deputed to resolve the complaint.

Moreover, Open Courts are being held all over the FESCO region from 11am to 1pm daily by SDOs, XENs, SEs and other senior officers of FESCO to solve the problems of the consumers immediately. In the light of the Board’s directives, further suggestions for improvement in customer services will be formulated and presented in the next meeting, he added.

BOD Chairman Omer Farooq Khan Chairman, Board Members including Zoe Khurshid, Engr Pervaiz Iqbal, Amir Zia, Hassan Raza Saeed, Lubna Usman, CEO FESCO Engr Muhammad Amir, and Deputy Company Secretary Saeed Raza also attended the meeting.
