ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik to take all necessary measures regarding the ongoing monsoon rains across the country.

The premier held a telephonic conversation with the NDMA chairman, on Tuesday, and directed him to estimate the loss of life and property due to rains.

The prime minister asked the chairperson NDMA to further improve linkages with Provincial Disaster Management Departments, Azad Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Management Authority and Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority.

He instructed for speedy measures to restore highways and roads affected by rains and landslides. Provide all treatment facilities in the affected areas, instructed the prime minister.

He wanted the authorities to ensure supply of relief materials including medicines and other essential items to the affected areas while expressing deep sorrow and regret over the deaths caused by the monsoon rains and the flood situation.

He prayed for the deceased persons and condolence to their families and instructed to provide all possible medical assistance to those injured in the accidents caused by the rains.
