ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended deadline up to August 31, 2024 for sales tax registered persons including individuals, members of association of persons (AOPs) and single member companies for biometric re-verification.

These categories of sales tax registered persons would be bound to go to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for the purpose of biometric re-verification for linkage of their data with the NADRA’s database.

According to Sales tax circular number 2 of 2024 issued by the FBR on Tuesday, under the provision of proviso to sub-rule (4) of rule 5 of the Sales Tax Rules, 2006, every individual, any member of an association of persons, and a director of a company having only one shareholder or member, as the case may be, are required to visit e-Sahulat Centre of NADRA during the month of July every year for biometric re-verification.

Taxpayers face problems at e-Sahulat centres

Under the provisions of section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the Board has been pleased to extend the said time and direct that biometric re-verification by the said persons, in the manner as provided in the said proviso, may be made by the 31 August, 2024, FBR added.
