Internet services were disrupted in Pakistan on Wednesday, with users reporting outages and sluggish speeds across the country.

NetBlocks, a watchdog organisation that monitors cybersecurity and the governance of the internet, confirmed that there was a nation-scale disruption to internet connectivity in Pakistan.

“Metrics show national connectivity at 24% of ordinary levels, corroborating user reports of a widespread outage,” it said in a post on X.

In its statement, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority laid the blame on Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), saying that “some fault” caused internet services “in some parts of the country” to suffer “to some extent”.

A firewall could not disrupt the internet speed, it can filter the traffic and block the unwanted sites and application. Also firewall isn't installed yet, it's in the bidding process at the moment.
