Chairman of Businessmen Group Siraj Kassam Teli has been contacted by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on the issue of law and order situation of Karachi and the KCCI's proposed protest campaign, President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) Haroon Agar said on Tuesday.
He said that Siraj Teli had informed the Chief Minister about the surging crime rate, citing a few examples such as the Kharadar killings of two traders. Shooting guard of a marble trader on refusing to pay Bhatta by phone in consultation with CPLC Chief and many such incidences of crime narrated by the business and industrial community and their sentiments.
Siraj Teli also informed the Chief Minister that business and industrial community had no other option as the police, law enforcing agencies and the state is not providing security to the citizens of Karachi and all the decisions taken in the past meetings with regard to law and order with the government and law enforcing agencies have never been implemented and the crimes have increased manifolds. It was unanimously decided by KCCI and all the industrial town associations along-with small traders/market associations to protest accordingly:
1. Display protest banners across the city with such slogans to awaken the Government/State.
2. Karachi Chamber to file a petition in the Supreme Court for implementation on the orders of the Supreme Court in the suo motu law and order case of Karachi.
3. A peaceful sit-in (Dharna) on 3rd November at the Governor and CM Houses simultaneously.
4. Complete strike/closure of businesses on 10th November 2012.
The Chief Minister informed that only three days back he had called a meeting of all the law enforcing agencies and has given strict orders to control the crimes and if in any area killings take place the SHO, DSP and SP of that jurisdiction will be responsible and serious action will be taken against them.-PR
