The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that it has filed a reference against former Chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Tauqir Sadiq and five other accused in multi-billion-rupee scams. A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case about non-implementation of its judgement over illegal appointment of Ogra chief.
NAB's Additional Prosecutor-General Fouzi Ali Kazmi informed the court that Inspector-Generals of Police Punjab and Islamabad were co-operating with the Bureau. He said that teams had been constituted to arrest the former Chairman of Ogra, adding that the arrest would be made soon.
Fouzi apprised the bench that references against six persons including Tauqir Sadiq, Mir Kamal Fareed Bijarani, Mansoor Muzzafar, Jawwad Jamil, Shahzad Saleem Bhatti and Dewan Ziaur Rehman had been filed in the Accountability Court for a trial in the matter. Meanwhile, NAB's prosecutor-general tendered an unconditional apology over including the firm of Manto and Mirza in the investigation, saying he would personally apologise. Later, the hearing was adjourned for two weeks.
