ISLAMABAD: General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People’s Republic of China, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During his visit, General Zhang Youxia held a one-on-one meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir. This was followed by delegation-level discussions focusing on shared interests, regional security dynamics, and measures to ensure regional stability while enhancing bilateral defense cooperation.
General Munir reaffirmed the “all-weather” partnership between Pakistan and China, emphasizing the historic and enduring nature of the relationship.
“The Pakistan-China bond, rooted in mutual trust and cooperation, has withstood the test of time and will continue to strengthen,” he stated. The COAS expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their steadfast support to Pakistan, regardless of evolving global and regional dynamics.
Vice Chairman Youxia lauded Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to their strategic partnership and commended the Pakistan Army’s professionalism and determination in combating terrorism. He reiterated China’s resolve to further bolster the enduring bilateral relationship, recognising its critical role in ensuring regional stability and security.
Earlier in the day, General Zhang Youxia was welcomed at GHQ with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.
As part of the ceremonial tribute, he laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying homage to the martyrs of Pakistan. The visit underscores the unwavering commitment of both nations to their strategic partnership and mutual goals of regional peace and stability.
