ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday welcomed the constitution of a nine-member negotiating committee by Prime Minister Shehbaz for talks with the opposition. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar hoped that the negotiations between the government and the opposition would yield positive results.

He said that the opposition and the government consist of senior politicians and he anticipated that the dialogue would soon begin to break the ongoing deadlock.

PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram said that PTI has accepted Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s invitation to meet today (Monday) with the government’s negotiating committee.

PM Shehbaz forms negotiation committee for talks with PTI

Tomorrow PTI’s negotiation team will meet with government committee, he said.

He said that both the committees will put their point of view in front of each other.

The outcome of this meeting will determine the government’s stance on PTI’s two key demands set forth by the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan. Following this, PTI’s negotiation committee will visit Imran Khan in Adiala Jail to brief him regarding the outcome of the meeting, he said.

Waqas said that following the briefing, what decision Khan will take about civil disobedience movement, we will it with the public.

The PTI founder will decide whether to proceed with or to withdraw the civil disobedience movement, he said, adding that it was the call of Khan therefore he can only withdraw it.
