ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee on Aviation formed a sub-committee to evaluate the progress and performance of ongoing aviation projects across the country.

The committee held its fifth meeting on Tuesday at the Islamabad International Airport under the chairmanship of Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Babar, MNA.

The meeting addressed several critical issues, including the Multan Flying Club's repeated non-compliance, a workplace harassment case, and the progress of key aviation projects.

The committee expressed displeasure over the persistent absence of the secretary/ president of the Multan Flying Club (MFC) from multiple invitations, despite repeated requests by the Ministry of Aviation.

The unresolved issues, including student fee refunds and employee grievances, remain unaddressed. As a result, the committee has issued a formal summon for his appearance at the next meeting scheduled for January 9, 2024, in Multan.

In another matter, the committee reviewed the sexual harassment case involving Zeeshan, manager PIA, currently posted in Dubai. Dissatisfied with the initial findings, the committee has directed the submission of a detailed fact-finding report before the next meeting to ensure a thorough investigation.

The committee also evaluated the ministry’s briefing on airport development projects, but found the information lacking.

To ensure a comprehensive assessment, a sub-committee has been formed to evaluate the progress and performance of ongoing aviation projects across the country. The sub-committee, headed by Dr Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, MNA, includes members Abdul Aleem Khan, Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, and Ramesh Lal.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Aqeel Malik, Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, Dr Darshan, Choudhary Iftikhar Nazir, Dr Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Ramesh Lal, Abdul Aleem Khan, Saleem Rehman, Haji Imtiaz Ahmed Choudhary, Muhammad Saad Ullah, and Usman Ali, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Aviation and its affiliated departments.

The committee reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and the sustainable development of Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure.
