The prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a mixed trend as some registered a slight increase or decrease while others remained unchanged during the week past as compared to the preceding week, revealed a survey conducted by Business Recorder on Saturday.
Traders and wholesalers in different markets of the twin cities of Rawalpindi/Islamabad said that the price of chicken and eggs increased while that of some vegetables witnessed a slight decline in the week past as compared to the preceding week.
The survey noted slight decline in some vegetables prices as tomato was available at Rs 80 against Rs 100 week past's price, registering a decrease of Rs 20 per kg, onions were being sold at Rs 70 per kg, potato was available at Rs 60 per kg, cabbage at Rs 50 per kg, shimla mirch was being sold at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 100 per kg last week registering price decrease of Rs 10 per kg, cucumber was being sold at Rs 60 per kg, carrot at Rs 50 per kg, peas were being sold at Rs 160-200 per kg, radish at Rs 45 per kg and green -chillies at Rs 80 per kg.
A mixed trend was also observed in fruit prices during the past week as compared to the preceding week, as apple was available at Rs 80-120 against Rs 90-160 per kg week past, banana was being sold at Rs 60-100 per dozen, grapes at Rs 100- 180 per kg, guava was being sold at Rs 140-180 per kg. Meat prices remained stable during last week as mutton was available at Rs 560 per kg, and beef at Rs 380 per kg. However, chicken price increased from Rs 135 to Rs 140 per kg.
However, pulses price remained stable during the week against prices during the preceding week, as mash was available at Rs 160-180 against Rs 160 per kg week past price, moong at Rs 150 per kg, lobia at Rs 150 per kg, masoor at Rs 130 per kg, channa at Rs 120-140 per kg and white channa at Rs 140-155 per kg. Similarly, rice prices also remained unchanged as colonel rice was available at Rs 140 per kg while broken rice at Rs 90 per kg. However, prices of ghee/cooking oil remained stable during the last week as compared to the preceding week.
