A petition has been filed before the Lahore High Court with a prayer to dismiss a contempt of court petition pending against President Asif Ali Zardari for not relinquishing political office of co-chairman of PPP. Advocate Afaq Ahmad filed this petition in which he contended that after Supreme Court's judgement in Asghar Khan case, there was no need of further hearing by the high court on contempt petition.
The SC had already explained political status of the office of the president, he added. The petitioner, therefore, urged the court to dismiss the contempt petition against President Zardari.
