Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has released the cotton arrival figures on Saturday. According to a fortnightly report by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association, around 6.85 million cotton bales were sourced to the country's ginners by November 1st, 2012 which shows an increase of 2.20 percent than last year.
Chairman PCGA Hamesh Kumar briefed the journalists about seed-cotton (phutti) arrivals, sales and unsold stock of cotton. He said that 52,32,807 cotton bales were sold to the textile units and exporters bought 1,26,068 bales. Thus, overall 53,58,872 bales were traded without TCP participating in the trading activity so far.
He said that PCGA was expecting bumper crop which may cross the figures of 15 million bales. Kumar said that total 1041 out of 1200 ginning factories are operational in Sindh and Punjab. The chairman of PCGA said that Punjab contributed 43,03,099 bales which 14.02 percent less than last year when Punjab contributed 50,04,530 bales, Sindh contributed 25,47,957 bales which 49.95 percent more than last year when it contributed 16,99,210 bales and Balochistan 26,300 bales.
The textile industry purchased 52,32,807 bales and 14,92,181 bales were available with ginners as unsold stock. He said that cotton trading remained firm amid strong physical price and higher cottonseed prices. district wise cotton arrival in Punjab, Multan 79,908 bales 46.22 percent less than last year, Lodhran 82,249 bales 24.57 percent less, Khanewal 4,78,610 showing an increase of 18.82 percent, Muzaffargarh 66,755 bales 13.20 percent less, Dera Ghazi Khan 76,951 showed an increase of 11.63 percent, Rajanpur 1,00,325 bales showing increase of 0.72 percent in spite of flood and rains, Layyah 35,000 bales 17.70 percent less than last year, Vehari 4,74,000 bales, Sahiwal 3,23,689,Pakpattan 1,39,455 ,Okara 32,740, Kasur 23,850, Toba Tek Singh, 1,48,987 bales ,Faisalabad 39,079 ,Jhang 96,225, Mianwali 36,960, Bhakkar 73,870, Sargodha 12,400,Rahimyar Khan ,1,47, 767, Bahawalpur 2,53,677 and Bahawalnagar 3,29,700 bales.
District wise cotton arrival in Sindh, Hyderabad 1,93,955 bales showing an increase of 37.88 percent, Mirpur Khas 3,07,925,showing bumper crop with 217.54 percent increase, Sangarh 10,65,055, Nawabshah 1,45,920 Naushero Feroze 95,410, Khairpur 93,983, Ghotki 32,136, Sukkur 1,03,717, Dadu 4018, Jamshoro 1,22,982, Badin 39,500 and Balochistan 26,300 bales. Ginneries received 1,47,300 bales during the fortnight of October 15 to November 1st. Unsold stock is 14,92,181 which is more than last year when it swelled to 13,05,039 bales.
