Islami Jamiat-e-Tulba (IJT) on Monday announced to launch a drive "Umeed Pakistan" to create awareness among students on the current country situation. The announcement was made by IJT Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nazim Sohail Babar Rahi while speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club.
He said the campaign was already started from Wana Waziristan Agency, which would be expanded to settled areas to create awareness among students about the increasing internal and external challenges to the country. Under the next phase of drive, he informed that a three 'Provincial Students' Mela would be held from November 6 to 8 in Peshawar, while programme "Rising Pakistan" was also arranged at federal capital Islamabad to be organised on November 13.
JTI Nazim said the drive had been designed while keeping in view the current country situation and increasing external challenges to it. The drive would be carried on titled "Hum Hain Roshan Mustakbil" at different educational institutes of the province, he informed.
He expressed the hope that more than five lakhs students would take part in the week long campaign under the IJT. Under the weeklong drive, he said special programmes, seminars, young conventions, book fairs and talent award shows would be held to recognise the role of students in the circumstances. He said the youth was capable to tackle with the prevailing situation, but there was not any tangible formula and planning to give them a right direction in the country.
He said the country was passing through its critical juncture due to wrong policies of the present rulers, adding the economic situation was also adversely affected in wake of so-called war against terrorism. IJT Nazim criticised the incumbent government for failure to address the masses problems, adding that it was lacking any mechanism to control the growing price hike. He said the government also failed to take steps for maintenance of law and order, and control corruption in the country.
