The first one year of the Punjab Government in Communication and Works sector is remarkable, the Punjab Government is undertaking a transformative journey to enhance building and road infrastructure across the province.

Sarkain Bahal Punjab Khushal Program

• The “Sarkain Bahal – Punjab Khushal” program aims to rehabilitate over 11,000 kilometers of road infrastructure. An increased allocation of Rs. 154 billion underscores the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and economic growth. Up till now more than 462 roads are in the process of rehabilitation and more than 25 percent work has been completed with little span of six months. (CM Initiative in road Sector)

Dualization of Faisalabad Chiniot Road

• The dualization of Faisalabad Chiniot Road 24 kilometer project is under construction. The Punjab Government has been spending 7.6 billion on this project. This project is on its full swing of construction. Earthwork is in process. (CM Initiative) Quaid e Azam Interchange to Wagha Boarder Road Rehabilitation

• The 13 kilometers road rehabilitation from Qauid-e-Azam interchange to Wagha Boarder is also progressing rapidly in regard with construction. This project will be key route to a tourist attraction. Rehabilitation of Carriageway, Service road, Remodeling of drains and Façade is in progress. Moreover, WASA is also working to resolve the sewerage issues after which drains on both sides of the roads will be constructed. The Punjab Government has allocated funds of 3282 million for this project. (CM Initiative).

Multan-Vehri Road 93 Kilometer

• A flagship project a gift for south Punjab is Multan Vehri Road 93 kilometer. The government aims to begin the work on it shortly as 26 billion has been allocated for this project. Pre-qualification is called on 20 Jan 2025 and work will be awarded by the end of Feb Month (CM Initiative)

Kartarpur Corridor (5 Roads)

• The Kartarpur Corridor is the important project of the Punjab Government. Five roads of the length of 73 Km, 7 Km, 34 Km, 6 Km and 2 Km are being constructed. The total length of Kartarpur Corridor is 122 Km. The Government has allocated 2988 million for this project while the total cost of the project is 17971 million. The work on the Shakargarh road is completed. The construction work on Muridkey Narowal and circular road is going. However the work of other two roads, substituted later on, has been awarded on 16 Jan 2025.

Road Restoration Program I

• Under the Road Restoration Program One, 106 roads of around 2121.90 Kilometer with an approved cost of 144403 million are being rehabilitated and initially an amount of 19883 million has been released. Earth Work 8.88 percent, subbase 6.64 percent, Base 9.82 percent and Surface 34.4 percent have been completed up till now.

Road Restoration Program II

• In Road Restoration Program Two, 71 roads of 2082 Kilometer with a cost of 137674 million are being rehabilitated. The planning and development department has released an amount of 38528 million rupees. 17.14 % Earth Work, 12.71 %Sub base, 18.74 % Base and 4.64 % Surface work have been completed under this program by Communication and Works Department BHUs and RHCs Revamping.

• A major initiative is the revamping of Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs) with an approved budget of Rs. 28 billion. So far, Rs. 15 billion has been released. Out of 1236 Basic Health Units, 425 BHUs are in their finishing point. And 46 percent work has been completed since the start of revamping work in the last week of September 2024.

Construction of Autism School in Lahore.

• The establishment of Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art Autism school in Lahore is another significant step. With an investment of Rs. 548 million, the school will offer specialized education and therapy services, set to be completed by September 2025. 11 class rooms are being constructed on a 22 kanal piece of land in Township. The brick work and work of super structure is in progress.

Construction of Model Agriculture Malls

• Model Agriculture Malls are being constructed in Multan (24 Kanal), Bahawalpur (64 Kanal), Sahiwal (24 Kanal), and Sargodha ( 63 Kanal) to provide farmers with access to quality seeds and machinery at fixed rates. This Rs. 1.185 billion initiative aims to modernize agriculture and improve farmers’ livelihoods. Brick work and super structure construction has been completed up till now and this project will be completed till the month of June in 2025.

Tendering Revamping of Special Education Centers

• The government is also revamping 12 Special Education Centers with a budget of Rs. 800 million, ensuring better facilities for special students by March 2025. Signal Free Corridor flyover in Gujranwala

• To facilitate the people of Gujranwala and to resolve the longstanding issue of traffic congestion, a signal free corridor fly over at Chan Da Qila is being constructed on fast track. Burewala to Chichawatni Road.

• The project of dualization or road from Burewala to Chichawatni has successfully completed this year with an amount of 4.6 billion. E Tendering and Saving of 46 Billion

• The Punjab government has saved an amount 46 billion with the introduction of E tendering in C & W Department otherwise this huge amount has gone into the pockets of others.

Construction of Flyover in Sargodha, Rawalpindi and Multan

• The Communication and Works Department Punjab is also working on flyover to resolve the issue of traffic congestion. 1.43 Kilometer Flyover from Qanchi More to Pull 47 is under process of construction. More than 80 percent of construction work has been completed up till now. This project was in delay for the last two years but special funds were issued on the direction of the CM Punjab. Now the same flyover will be open in next month for traffic. It will help facilitate more than 4 million people of Sargodha and more than 30 thousands vehicles will pass from it. Similarly Rawalpindi (Khawaja Corporation Chowk) and Shaujaabad fly over is in the process of construction.

Sialkot Ring Road

• The C & W Department has also started paper working for Sailkot Ring Road. It will be 110 feet in width. Multiple meetings were held in C & W Department in the last month of 2024.

Installation of water sprinkler on construction side to make the environment clean

• The Punjab government is not just focused on development but also on sustainability. To address environmental concerns, the government has mandated the installation of water sprinklers on every ongoing construction project. This initiative is particularly important in the face of the numerous ongoing projects, including road construction and the revamping of healthcare facilities. The sprinklers will help prevent dust from being released into the air, ensuring that the environment remains healthier for the residents of Punjab.

Construction of the Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Education

• The Punjab government’s commitment to education, healthcare, infrastructure, and public safety is setting the stage for a prosperous future for Punjab. The ongoing construction of the Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Education is a prime example of this forward-thinking approach. Expected to be completed by March 2025, this facility will serve as a major step toward improving early childhood education in the province. The center will be renovated across 84,293 square feet of land, with new construction underway on 4,216 square feet. It is an initiative that underscores the government’s focus on investing in future generations.

Sahiwal Pakpattan Road Completion

• The C & W Department has completed the project of Sahiwal PAkpattan 27 kilometer Road with an amount of 2.7 billion in the month of September 2024. This project will help facilitate more than 25 thousand daily. It will connect Malika Hans, Noor Pur, Baba Farid Shrine and will establish a link with motorway.

Patch Free Muree Plan of CM Punjab

• 15 roads under patch free Muree Plan were repaired and rehabilitated with an amount of 445 million on the instruction of CM Punjab in 2024. The local one lac and fifty inhabitants and more than 1.6 million tourists visiting annually have the better travel facility in Muree.

Completion of Lahore Kasur Road in 2024

• 33 kilometer road from Lahore to Kasur was completed in the month of April 2024.
