The international much-awaited mega event "IDEAS-2012" will be held at Expo Centre Karachi from November 7 to 11, 2012 in which participation of large number of foreign delegates, diplomats and business community is expected in the exhibitions and conferences.
In this purpose, Karachi Traffic Police has arranged route and parking arrangements for the convenience of participants and for general public as well aimed at ensuring high level security to foreign delegates and maintaining smooth traffic on the busiest routes adjacent to Expo Center.
Director Generate Karachi Traffic Police have designed an alternative roadmap for local public for their convenience through out the city and urged masses to follow the temporary traffic routes in days of special event. Accordingly, all heavy and commercial vehicles coming from Karachi Airport and proceeding towards Stadium via Karsaz shall be diverted towards Balouch Colony Bridge from where they can proceed after taking U-turn from under the Tipu Sultan Bridge towards Shaheed-e-Millat Road to approach Jail Chowrangi, University Road and surrounding area.
All public and heavy vehicles coming from Gharibabad to proceed towards Karsaz shall be diverted before Hassan Square Flyover (left) towards University road, (right) U-turn, Jafferi Optics, KDA Society (backside of National Stadium), National Stadium Backside, Dalmia, Stadium road to Karsaz and onwards.
All public and heavy vehicles coming from NIPA towards Hassan Square, Civic centre shall be diverted from Jafferi Optics (left) towards KDA Society, Stadium road via Steel Yard Cut and right towards Aga Khan Hospital or H.I. Road onwards. The drivers of public and heavy vehicles coming from Sohrab Goth towards city area are advised to use Sharah-e-Pakistan & Sher Shah Suri Road. Traffic coming from University Road towards city area may use NIPA, Rashid Minhas from 7th to 11th November.
According to the further instruction of traffic police, no vehicle will be permitted to park along the route and at and around Expo Centre ie, Sir Shah Mohammad Suleman Road Stadium crossing to Hassan Square and Hassan Square to Baitul Mukkaram Mosque. The route will be kept clear from all parking and other obstructions.
The Stadium Road will remain open for vehicular traffic during IDEAS-2012. However, the road will temporally be close from Hassan Square up to Stadium Intersection during 7th to 11th November from 08:00 am upto 06:00 pm during exhibition. DG Traffic instructed that vehicles bearing stickers issued by IDEAS management will only be allowed to proceed from Stadium Bridge to Karachi Expo Center. However rest of the vehicular traffic will be diverted towards Stadium road under Stadium bridge from where the drivers can turn towards KDA Society behind National Stadium and then turn left behind the National Stadium to proceed towards Jafri Optics and onward towards university road etc.
The drivers wishing to go towards old Sabzi Mandi and Gharibabad can turn left and proceed to their destination via New Town PS. On 8th November, from 6:00pm to 12:00am Aiwan-a-Saddar road will be closed for all kind of Traffic, DG Traffic Polic said. No vehicle will be allowed to be parked on A.H. Road Club Chowk up to Musical Fountain. Drivers are requested to proceed via club road and Dean Mohammad Wafai road (PIA Booking office) towards Shaheen Complex and onwards, he added.
