The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday extended the stay against the broadcast of television programmes/talk shows intended to scandalise judges/judiciary and directed Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to ensure the implementation of the order.
The court directed Chairman Pemra and others to file their written replies till November 13. The petitioner, advocate Azhar Siddique, told the court that after the issuance of the stay order by the court on October 16 last the television channels continued to hold talk shows amounting to malign the judges. He said Senator Faisal Raza Abidi used derogatory remarks against the Chief Justice of Pakistan at a talk show aired on October 26 by a private television channel.
