Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence accentuated through co-operation and positive engagement, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Khalid Shameem Wynne said on Tuesday while emphasising upon the security concerns of Pakistan and the response thereof.
During his meetings with Chief of Defence Staffs from different countries attending the CHODS (Chief of Defence Staff Conference) in Sydney, Australia, he said that Pakistan is well alive to its maritime security and the emerging importance of Indian Ocean.
According to ISPR here, this forum is organised under the auspices of US Pacific Command (PACOM) on yearly basis, this year it is organised in Sydney, Australia.
Pakistan being at the rim of PACOM area of responsibility emerges as an important player in the North Arabian Sea with strategic sea lines of communications from Middle East leading to East Asia passing in proximity of its territorial waters.
The meetings held at the sidelines of CHODS improve the awareness about Pakistan's Security concerns and facilitate in enhancing mutual co-operation with different armed forces of the region.
During the two days' commitments, CJCSC held bilateral talks with Chiefs of Defence of Canada, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, New Zeland, Sri Lanka, Vice Chief of Defence, UK and Commander US PACOM, USA.
