The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is set to build a Ground + 25-storey headquarters in Blue Area, Islamabad.

In a Design Vetting Committee (DVC) meeting held today at the CDA Secretariat, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) approved the architectural design presented by M/s NESPAK.

The meeting, chaired by Member Planning & Design CDA, Dr. Muhammad Khalid Hafiz, was attended by senior PAA officials, including the Director Planning & Development, Additional Director ADP (M&E), and Deputy Director Architecture.

Covering 1,240,990 sq ft, the high-rise will feature six basements for parking and a central atrium extending from the ground floor to the rooftop.

Its curved architectural design, double-glazed curtain wall, and green courtyards reflect sustainability and innovation, setting a new benchmark for corporate infrastructure.

Obviously the PAA has got it's priorities all wrong. They should spend money to double the size of the Karachi and Lahore airports before making a cushy building and offices for themselves!

Nice building. Cities need to go more and more vertical. Going horizontal is inefficient and eats away fertile land.

This project looks to be rather expensive, too grand, and a bit of a white elephant.

I hope the CDA now requires a helicopter landing pad on the roof of all new high rise buildings as a safety measure to evacuate people who may be trapped in case of fire.

If you have access to decision makers, tell them to work hard to improve airline service. No need of high rise, they can work in tents if commission and other personal benefits are not involved.

Why is such a building needed? There would probably be ample opportunity for corruption and nepotism by civil servants(masters)

Why not in Karachi as the largest commercial airport is in Karachi, why we need everyone to sit in islamabad. Why the business and operational issues are not the only priority ????

Before starting such a big project in Pakistan, power plants should be installed to eliminate the electricity shortage and get rid of load shedding.

Keep rewarding inefficient, corrupt, and loss-making government departments with such luxurious projects from the public money as well as the IMF loans. Keep it up and wait for the consequences.

How is this construction project being funded? Private investment or tax-payers funds? Why does the PAA need a tower? What's wrong with the existing HQ? How many PAA staff will actually occupy tower?

Why doesn't the PAA use the funds / investment to address the corruption & poor level of service at the airports?

I hope a futuristic design is put to construction as the upcoming buildings lacks beauty to add up to Islamabad skyline Most glaring weakness is our architects who fail to design modern buildings

The government should check their existing facilities of PAA, their cargo complexes are in shambles. The prime minister’s team should scrutinize their facilities.

@Tariq let me guess your next point would be they should spend that money on reducing poverty instead.. so cliché.
