Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day is observed across the globe and this year the tech giant Google is celebrating it in its own way through Google Doodles.

Google is paying tribute to 12 different female artists from around the world through interactive Doodles, telling stories of all of them. A series of visual narratives and comics describe the personal story of the 12 women from 12 different countries, including Pakistan.

The narratives represent ‘a moment, person or event that has impacted their lives as women,’ described Google’s blog post. The artwork has been translated across over 80 languages and shared on Google’s search page in countries around the world.

Google celebrates its 19th birthday with a surprise!

Among the 12 different artists there is Isuri Merenchi Hewage based in Sri Lanka, Saffa Khan from Pakistan/England, Philippa Rice from England, Chihiro Takeuchi based in Japan, Tunalaya Dunn from Thailand, Karabo Poppy Moletsane from South Africa, from Germany there is Anna Haifisch, Laerte from Brazil, Estelí Meza based in Mexico, Tillie Walden from USA, Francesca Sanna from Italy/Switzerland, and Kaveri Gopalakrishnan based in India.

Huffington Post reported, the women described their stories based on various such as the Pakistani and British artist Saffa Khan titled her Doodle ‘Homeland’ based on her story of being an immigrant, writing a love letter to her first home in Pakistan and Philippa Rice from England told her story ‘Trust’ about the daughter she had earlier this year.

According to CNBC, Lydia Nichols and Alyssa Winans, Google’s project leads for International Women’s Day wrote, “We hope that the combined power of words and images help bring these stories to life in a way that invokes feelings of understanding, empathy and spirit of the day.”
