Pakistan Embassy in Berlin organised a "Talk-cum-Book Reading by Professor Juergen Wasim Frembgen, author of recently published book "Nocturnal Music in the Land of Sufis: Unheard Pakistan", says a press release received here on Wednesday. Professor Frembgen is a Chief Curator of the Oriental Department at the Museum of Ethnology in Munich and Professor in Islamic Studies at the University of Munich.
He has more than a hundred English and German language publications to his credit and was awarded "Tamgha-e-Imtiaz" by the Government of Pakistan in 2011 in recognition of his meritorious services for the promotion of Pakistan's folk and sufi culture. Professor Frembgen read out excerpts of his book and shared his experiences of his visits to various shrines including Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharif, Pakistan.
He said that Sufis always preached peace and tolerance and believed in non-interference of others faith while keeping their own. They believe in love for all and hate for none. Pakistan's Ambassador Abdul Basit said that Pakistan was a land of diverse culture and people and there was a need to see and feel the real Pakistan beyond security and other issues and fight against terrorism.-PR
