Duty on BOPET film raised to 20 percent

The Federal Board of Revenue has increased customs duty from 5 to 20 percent on the import of BOPET film (all types ie transparent, chemical coated and metalised, etc). In this connection, the FBR has issued a Customs General Order 15 of 2012 here on Thursday.
According to the CGO, the FBR has imposed statutory rate of 20 percent duty on the import of all types of BOPET film (Pakistan Customs Tariff Headings 3920.6200 and 3920.6900). Now, the two local units are able to indigenously manufacture the said plastic raw material and its import has been discouraged by imposing higher rate of duty on the above said item, sources added.
