The Karachi Port handled 103,748 tonnes of cargo comprising 71,378 tonnes of import cargo and 32,370 tonnes of export cargo including 4,194 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 71,378 tonnes comprised 21,452 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,948 tonnes of general cargo; 35,578 tonnes of bulk cargo: 23,500 tonnes of coal; 1,702 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 4,905 tonnes of DAP; 5,471 tonnes of rock phosphate and 11,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,370 tonnes comprised 21,674 tonnes of containerised cargo; 446 tonnes of general cargo and 10,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,194 containers comprising 1,701 containers import and 2,493 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 509 of 20's and 470 of 40's loaded while 252 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 567 of 20's and 309 of 40's loaded containers while 180 of 20's and 564 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Seven ships namely Kota Anggerik, UASC Shuwaikh, R Sea, Ital Moderna, APL Brisbane Mandarin River and Chang Hang Guang Rong with five container ships, one bulk cargo ship and one naphtha tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Four vessels viz APL Brisbane, Bengal Orchit Southern Jaugar and King Hero with one container ship, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Chemroute Pegasus, Bengal Orchit Southern Jaugar and King Hero with two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Al-Yasat-II carrying rock phosphate is expected to sail on Friday.
A DAP carrier namely Danos Z is expected to sail on Saturday. Three vessels viz Emirates, YM North and New Horizon with two container ships and one copra carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz Lantau Arrow, Jolly, MT Quetta, Andromeda and Amber Alena with two container ships, one crude oil tanker, one coal carrier and one steel coils ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 69,794 tonnes comprising 36,776 tonnes of import cargo and 33,018 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,059 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 36,776 tonnes includes 1,390 tonnes of palm oil; 13,161 tonnes of coal; 3,478 tonnes of steel scrap; 982 tonnes of chemicals and 17,765 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 33,018 tonnes includes 6,960 tonnes of cement; 1,238 tonnes of rice; 3,464 tonnes of wheat and 21,356 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 2,059 containers comprising 935 containers import and 1,124 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. Two ships namely CV CMA CGM Strauss and MV Clipper Hermed with containers and chemicals respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of thirteen vessels viz CV CMA CGM Strauss, CV Maersk Kingston, CV Nedlloyd Hodson, CV Abu Dhabi, MV Phutia-19, MV Beagle-III, MV Leopard-B, MV DN Vatan, MV Maha Deepa, MT Chemroad Sea, MV Clipper Hermed, MV Double Prosperity and KPS Alican Bey are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, wheat, cement, general crgo, steel scrap, palm oil, chemicals and coal respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely MSC Jade, Hansa Liberty and Cos Galaxy with containers and canola seeds respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Two vessels viz CV New Delhi Express and CV Hansa Liberty with containers are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal respectively on Thursday. Two ships namely CV Lantau Arrow and CV MSC Jade with containers are due to arrive on Friday.
