The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will commence laptop distribution among intelligent students from next month while the establishment of oil and gas company is also in final stage. This was stated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti while presiding over a high level meeting here in Chief Minister's Secretariat on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed in detail progress on the special indicatives in health, agriculture, higher education, elementary & secondary education, transport, information technology, energy & power and science and technology. A detail briefing on programmes was presented to the meeting by concerned departments. Besides, Additional Chief Secretary, the meeting was attended by administrative secretaries P&D and Finance, Managing Director, Bank of Khyber, concerned officers and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the special initiatives of the government for arresting the problems of unemployment, illiteracy, poverty, fatal diseases and energy would create long-lasting impacts, adding special initiatives for technical education and woman education would also prove useful. He expressed satisfaction over progress on Bacha Khan Khpal Rozgar Scheme, Hunarmand Rozgar Scheme, Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa and Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa education programmes.
He said that oil and gas reservoirs in southern districts were guarantee of economy, development and prosperity of the province. He termed establishment of oil and gas company vital for taking benefit of these resources in real sense. He directed concerned department for speedy steps for establishment of the company, and said that special attention should be paid to people awareness on free treatment of hepatitis and cancer under Benazir Health Support Programme and Begum Nusrat Bhutto Oncology Services to enable the people to take benefit of them.
The chief minister directed for increase in pace of work on these special initiatives and stressed the need for continuity in implementation of these people-welfare schemes. The representative of the Bank of Khyber informed the meeting on funding, expenditure and procedure of different schemes. Energy and Power Department presented briefing on different phases of establishment of oil and gas company of the province.
