The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved the judgement on a plea seeking dismissal of Rimsha Masih's 'blasphemy' case. Chief Justice IHC Iqbal Hamid Khan, while hearing the petition filed by Rimsha counsel Abdul Hameed Rana for dismissal of the case against her on the accusation of a neighbour that she burnt pages containing verses from the Holy Quran, reserved the verdict.
Abdul Hameed counsel for Rimsha told the court that the allegations against the accused were baseless and prayed for the dismissal of the FIR against her. Khalid Jadoon had tempered the evidence to strengthen the case against Rimsha as well as to dislocate Christan Colony.
Abdul Aziz advocate of Khalid Jadoon Chishti, the Imam, said that the Ministry of Interior and Islamabad police have weakened the case by using various tactics. He said that police have badly tortured the witnesses of the case and compelled them to change their statements.
Aziz said that earlier Rimsha was declared 16 years old and later it showed 14 years old and added that the report prepared by the medical board is illegal. He opposed the dismissal of the FIR and requested the court to order the subordinate court to continue proceeding of the case.
After the completion of the arguments the court reserved its judgement. Rimsha and her family, who have been in fear for their lives since the blasphemy allegations, were moved to an undisclosed location after her bail on September 8. Khalid Jadoon was arrested on September 1 after Hafiz Owais, Khurram Shahzad and Danish Ahmed had accused him of altering the evidence against Rimsha.
