English county Lancashire coach, Peter Morris has said that he is ready to work with Pakistan Cricket Board for improving the National Cricket Academy besides strengthening domestic cricket structure. "There are few options ahead of me and I may consider working as a part time consultant with NCA for making it a more result oriented institution to contribute in the overall development of cricket in Pakistan," he told mediamen at a news conference here on Thursday.
Director General, PCB, Javed Miandad, Director International Cricket, Intikhab Alam were also present. Morris said he would be submitting a report to PCB within next ten days regarding working of NCA suggesting ways and means to lift its performance as an institution to produce finish cricket products.
"I have attended a very productive meeting yesterday (Wednesday) which was attended by former cricketers and officials of the PCB and positive discussion took place as far as Pakistan's domestic cricket is concerned and NCA which is a most modern facility for polishing the skills of cricketers. Morris who worked as England teams head coach from 2007-9 and director of NCA England from 2005-7, was of the view that PCB already has the services of capable technical professionals who are serving Pakistan's cricket in different roles.
"I would see that in which role I can contribute in the presence of available technical professionals for brining improvement in Pakistan cricket and definitively I will consider taking up a part up consultant role," he asserted. Intikhab Alam said Morris would be visiting Pakistan soon and PCB will consider his proposals regarding NCA and domestic cricket.
"He is a very experienced coach and we look forward to get benefit from his vast experience and he is here to assist PCB as far bringing betterment in NCA working is concerned," he added. Morris said any country's cricket heavily depends on its cricket structure and what is most important is to make a cricket structure strong and sound in all aspects by mobilising all the resources.
"It is too early to comment on the working of NCA and cricket structure in Pakistan, I am here to listen and then go through all the opinions and proposals before coming up my recommendations," said the foreign coach. Praising Pakistan cricket, he said, it had produced a galaxy of former greats of the game and its cricketers are full of talent and potential. "I think with collective efforts and different assigned roles we can make it more better," he said.
